Review of Edu-circles programme of UNICEF Namibia

13 November 2017

In September 2017, Progress Namibia had been tasked to conduct field work and interviews at various schools in the Hardap Region. The field work was based on the review of the Edu-circles programme and the development of training materials for future strengthening of such processes.

The work involved interviewing all relevant stakeholders involved in the implementation of the programme and producing transcriptions of each interview; producing comprehensive case studies of each school visited as well bringing local knowledge into the research through language translation and interpretation of statements made in interviews.

The programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, which is technically and financially supported by UNICEF and the EU in order to enhance school governance through increased learner participation and community ownership, and to improve education outcomes for Namibian primary and secondary learners.
